Responsibilities
Operate various job site equipment safely, including but not limited to Directional Drills, Backhoes/Excavators, Skid Steers, Tractor Trailers (for equipment transport and water hauling), Vacuum Trucks/Trailers, and Crane Trucks
Manage bore schedules to ensure projects are completed on time and meet customer expectations
Oversee site setup and cleanup, including any necessary restoration work
Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment from trucks as needed
Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) sessions for new sites before construction begins
Establish safety zones using appropriate signage, cones, and barriers to maintain a secure work environment
Be prepared to work overtime, nights, weekends, or be on-call to support project completion and handle emergencies as required
Follow instructions carefully and collaborate effectively within a team setting
Qualifications
Proven experience and proficiency operating drilling equipment, with a thorough understanding of its capabilities and limitations (AT experience is mandatory)
Skilled in using walk-over locating systems such as TK, DCI, and Magnetics; ability to locate grade bores is an advantage.
Competent in interpreting bore profiles, HDD submittals and calculations, work orders, safety protocols, and operating instructions
Preferably at least 3 years operating various heavy support equipment, including backhoes, excavators, loaders, skid steers, vacuum equipment, and crane trucks
Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating or locating with different horizontal directional drilling equipment such as Ditch Witch, Vermeer, American Auger, TK, DCI, and Magnetics
Knowledgeable in drilling across different soil types and preparing drill mud appropriate for those conditions
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License required; tanker endorsement is a plus
Willingness to travel as needed for projects
