Job Summary The Material Expeditor ensures that materials, components, and supplies are delivered on time and in the right quantities to support production schedules and project requirements. This role involves internal departments to track shipments, resolve delays, and maintain accurate records of material flow throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and components.

Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to expedite delayed or urgent orders.

Review production schedules and inventory levels to identify material shortages or bottlenecks.

Update and maintain records of material status, expected delivery dates, and discrepancies in ERP or MRP systems.

Coordinate with receiving, quality, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth material flow.

Follow up on backorders, partial shipments, and replacements for rejected materials.

Prepare daily reports on material delivery performance, supplier responsiveness, and potential risks to production schedules.

Work closely with procurement and planning teams to adjust priorities based on production needs.

Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers to improve communication and delivery reliability.

Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements in all material handling activities.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field preferred.

Experience: 2–5 years of experience in material expediting, supply chain coordination, or purchasing in a manufacturing or construction environment.

Preferred: 2-5 years of shipyard experience.

Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication and negotiation abilities.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
