Project Overview:
Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. The mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the U.S., enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year. As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel manages procurement of about $1 billion in goods and services and coordinates a team of engineering contractors. Earthwork began in 2023 and design and procurement of long‑lead equipment is underway. The project is located in the high desert of north‑central Nevada, 25 miles from the Oregon border and 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca. Sustainability measures include using excess process heat to generate electricity and recycling process water up to seven times.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will perform project or site expediting activities. You will contact suppliers, interpret production schedules and progress reports, prepare critical items reports, provide early warning of delays or supplier deficiencies, monitor supplier quality, and assist with tracing missing material. Your initiative and corrective actions will help ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment. This position is designated as part‑time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in‑person attendance per week at the assigned office or project, with schedules determined by the individual and supervisor.
Major Responsibilities
Perform more complex expediting activities on a project, in a support office, or at a jobsite to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project needs.
Contact suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data and to follow‑up on material acquisition, production progress and shipment.
Interpret production schedules and progress reports to ensure they are realistic, that required activities occur on time, and that interface between activities is maintained.
Coordinate with planning and scheduling, field material coordinators or jobsite project expeditors and construction to establish priorities, sequences and required delivery dates and instruct suppliers accordingly.
Expedite Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval and return of engineering data submitted by suppliers.
Participate in pre‑ and post‑award meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required shipment dates.
Coordinate shipping arrangements or track shipments with the project Logistics representative.
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 2‑5 years of relevant experience, or 6‑9 years of relevant work experience.
