The

Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician

completes the prior authorization process for specialty medication and dispenses medications for patients by assisting in retail. Provides quality patient care and excellent customer service. Processes, enters and interprets physician orders. Follows departmental procedures with regard to inventory control, claims submission and other administrative tasks. Remote work option available after 90-day training period. Desired/Required Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma, some college preferred with an aptitude for mathematical calculation. Michigan Pharmacy Technician Licensure required Specific Skills & Abilities

Retail pharmacy and/or infusion pharmacy, claim reconciliation or accounting background helpful. Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Complete entire prior authorization process for prescriptions processed by the CHC pharmacy. Responsible for communicating with various departments regarding status of prescription and additional support that may be needed. Input customer and prescription data into pharmacy computer system. Ensure excellent customer service in Pharmacy department. Insures the safety of all patients and personnel by following CHC protocols and NIOSH/OSHA guidelines for preparation, delivery, and disposal of potentially cytotoxic agents. Inventory control and accurate handling of pharmaceuticals, packing slips and invoices. Handle telephone inquiries, and assist in resolving issues and complaints in a timely manner. Ensure claims are properly filed in the QS-1 NRx environment. Enters physician orders correctly, checks patient profiles, allergies, duplicate therapies and drug interactions for review by a Pharmacist or other qualified healthcare professional. Accept telephone prescriptions and refills from physician offices as well as written prescriptions from patients. Help with retail pharmacy staffing as needed. All other duties as assigned.
