University of Iowa Health Care – UI Community Clinics seeks a 100%
clerk to manage front‑desk reception duties, including checking patients
in and out, scheduling appointments, and answering phones on a consistent
basis to assist external and internal customers.
Position supports Cedar Rapids Pediatrics, Family Medicine, and specialty clinics, with potential float to other locations based on clinical needs.
Base Pay:
$18.72/hr – $27.86/hr (equivalent to $39,087.36 – $58,171.68 annually at 100% time).
Responsibilities
Collect demographic data and enter it into the EPIC system.
Gather information on referring entities, primary care providers, and other healthcare providers and enter it into EPIC.
Perform name‑search procedures as outlined in the Policy and Procedures Manual.
Alternate with other scheduling clerks to respond to telephone calls, assist patients, physicians, specialty nurses, and other providers at the scheduling desk; assume full scheduler or receptionist duties during absences.
Maintain effective communication with appropriate divisions.
Perform miscellaneous clerical duties as assigned.
Requirements
Any combination of related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post‑high‑school clerical training that equates to two years of full‑time employment.
Special Qualifications
Public contact/customer service experience.
Driver's license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Highly Desired Requirements
Demonstrated excellent teamwork and collaboration.
Previous experience successfully multi‑tasking priorities.
Desired Requirements
Medical terminology knowledge.
Experience with EPIC.
Customer service experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication.
