Assistant Professor of Music (Music Education Teacher)
The Conservatory of Music of Brooklyn College – City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track position in Music Teacher Education (MTE). The appointment will be as Assistant Professor of Music.
Responsibilities:
Direct graduate and undergraduate Music Education programs
Teach Music Education courses and other courses
Supervise student teachers
Serve as academic advisor for Music Education students
Take a primary role in revising Music Education curricula
Provide academic and career advisement to students and prepare them to achieve certification and employment as music educators
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate in Music Teacher Education
NY State Teacher Certification (K-12, Special Subjects) or eligibility
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching in the New York City or another urban public school system
Some college‑level teaching experience
Some experience with curriculum design
Compensation and Benefits:
$79,598 – $102,017; salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. CUNY offers a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. Mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication are also available.
