Senior Marketing & Communications Specialist
to join our
Strategic Partnerships
team! The Senior Marketing & Communications Specialist supports the implementation of LifeWorks’ communications, marketing, public relations, and internal communications efforts to increase awareness of the organization and encourage engagement in its mission. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, this role creates, coordinates, and distributes content across digital, print, media, and internal platforms. The Senior Marketing & Communications Specialist works closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure LifeWorks’ voice and brand are consistently represented. This position balances hands‑on content development with cross‑departmental collaboration, oversees department interns, and plays a key role in supporting PR/media outreach, donor stewardship communications, event promotion, and internal communications that keep staff informed, connected, and aligned with organizational goals.
This
full time, exempt
position earns a competitive rate ranging from $69,136.29-$75,551.00 depending upon experience. Benefits are also included, which consist of 24 PTO days per year (accrued); 11 paid holidays per year; a premium‑free employee medical plan with $100 per month HSA contribution (plus other affordable employee or family medical, dental, and vision options!); a retirement savings plan with 50% match on the first 6% of contributions, and much more!
RESPONSIBILITIES
Researches, writes, and edits engaging communications and marketing content for diverse platforms and audiences.
Coordinates with the Director of Communications and Marketing on the development, messaging, and execution of campaigns, including design, schedules, and collateral.
Supports media relations by drafting press releases, maintaining media lists, assisting with media pitches, and coordinating interview opportunities.
Serves as a point of contact for media inquiries when appropriate and helps prepare LifeWorks representatives for interviews.
Assists in the development and implementation of integrated PR and media strategies to expand visibility at the local, regional, and national level.
Plans, drafts, and distributes internal communications including staff newsletters, announcements, intranet updates, and leadership messages to ensure staff are informed and engaged.
Supports internal engagement initiatives, including town halls, staff events, and other agency‑wide communications
Collaborates with Human Resources and Program leadership to develop communications that support staff culture, organizational priorities, and employee engagement.
Collaborates with Development on donor stewardship communications, including impact reports, annual report, appeal letters, case statements, and other fundraising collateral.
Supports event promotion and communications before, during, and after fundraising or community events.
Provides first‑draft support to the Director of Communications and Marketing on urgent or crisis communications, including drafting messaging for staff, media, or stakeholders.
Supports social media content planning, posting, scheduling, and community engagement.
Captures and edits visual content (photography, video, and graphics) for use in campaigns, events, and donor engagement.
Collaborates with program staff to develop program‑specific communications and marketing materials.
Designs and/or adapts templates, graphics, and collateral for both internal and external use.
Drafts and distributes regular external communications such as newsletters, appeals, and campaign updates.
Assists in the coordination of vendor relationships related to design, production, or media placement.
Tracks performance metrics for campaigns, PR efforts, internal communications, and digital channels, producing reports to guide strategy.
Stays informed of communications and marketing trends, media opportunities, and community partnerships that support departmental goals.
Assists in managing LifeWorks’ branded merchandise and promotional goods.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field;
4–6 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, PR, or internal communications; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience writing for multiple platforms (web, email, social, press, internal newsletters) and audiences.
Strong understanding of social media, digital communications, and emerging media trends.
Proficiency with design and publishing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp).
Familiarity with internal communications strategies and tools (e.g., intranet platforms, staff newsletters, organizational announcements).
Experience with media relations, including drafting press releases and supporting media outreach.
Photography and video production/editing skills preferred.
Experience with website content management systems and analytics tools is a plus.
Bilingual is a plus but not required.
