Responsibilities
Verifies insurance benefits and eligibility on all new referrals.
Performs monthly verification of DSHS coverage for long‑term Medicaid patients and weekly verification for capitated hospice patients.
Assists in evaluation of documentation to determine if patient meets criteria for coverage of therapy.
Gathers necessary information to assure accuracy and completeness of forms and reports; works with management and staff to correct omissions, errors, system problems, etc.
Creates cost disclosure/advance beneficiary notices for Medicare patients and tracks signed forms.
Generates benefits letters to inform patients/responsible parties of financial responsibility and sends them.
Enters new patient and physician data into the software database, including new therapy sessions on existing patients; enters ICD‑9/ICD‑10 codes as needed.
Obtains PCP referral requests and follows up.
Documents payer/billing information appropriately in the patient electronic record.
Obtains initial pre‑authorizations as required by insurance plans.
Verifies physician licensure on an ongoing basis.
Supports and incorporates Sisters of Providence Health System Mission into daily activities.
Participates in QA/QI activities.
Performs Medicare Part D eligibility and drug formulary checks.
Prepares hospital charity agreements and sends/ tracks patient financial assistance applications.
Skills & Qualifications
One year or more of reimbursement experience.
One year or more of insurance benefits verification.
One year or more of patient service experience.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
