As the
Director of Sales & Marketing
with Washington Hilton, you will oversee commercial strategies for the hotel, improving performance by connecting strategy and business processes. The role is part of Hilton’s Commercial Services organization, driving sales, revenue, marketing, catering, events, call centers and analytics.
Responsibilities What will I be doing?
Design, develop, and deploy business strategies that are creative, dynamic, and impactful for the Americas; lead the Hotel Sales and Marketing process.
Move the business analytics and processes to a predictive and prescriptive approach to drive performance, including development and communication of commercial strategies and standards.
Facilitate delivery of the Americas Commercial Operating Model; possess strong leadership, communication and networking skills.
Produce the hotel’s Annual Multi‑Year Commercial Strategy Plan with regional support.
Connect hotel performance needs with solutions designed by Hilton enterprise.
Set strategy and delivery of hotel revenues: group rooms, banquets, catering, business transient and leisure transient.
Work with Commercial Leadership on Business Review Guidelines and Group Pricing & Rate Quotation Strategies.
Support B2B marketing, digital marketing, social media, public relations and communications; guide e‑Commerce teams.
Establish optimal business mix, review and validate revenue forecasts, develop demand‑period strategies, and approve pricing strategies.
Ensure profits are maximized in line with GOP and EBITDA targets.
Develop and execute departmental expense budget and forecasts.
Maintain detailed and real‑time knowledge of competitor and market activity.
Execute the Sales and Catering Sales annual SIP (Sales Incentive Program).
Leadership
Lead Sales & Marketing Optimization Process weekly, monthly and quarterly; convert outcomes into actionable strategies.
Contribute to annual Commercial Cadence communication regarding performance drivers.
Ensure compliance with Hilton brand standards and corporate identity.
Recruit and retain all sales and marketing roles.
Develop team members with performance development and career plans.
Conduct performance reviews for all direct reports and provide feedback for dotted‑line reports: Group Sales, Business Transient Sales, Leisure Sales, Catering Sales, Marketing.
Facilitate a culture aligned with Hilton’s DEI and ESG goals.
Ownership, Customer, and Stakeholder Relations
Own performance and commercial reporting for each hotel.
Present commercial strategies to key partners and ownership groups; ensure transparency and timeliness.
Liaise with Hilton Worldwide Sales, regional support and brand teams.
Build relationships with CVB, community influencers and third‑party travel partners.
Engage with customers across all sales segments; support high‑impact site visits and pre‑convention meetings.
Support sales managers’ travel into feeder markets.
Qualifications
Hotel Sales, Catering or Marketing Experience.
Leadership and management experience.
Ability to travel.
Experience in hotel management or related industry (essential).
Highly professional presentation and communication skills.
Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office.
Ability to perform critical analysis.
Preferred Capabilities & Distinctions
Four‑year college degree preferred.
Adaptable experience with business strategy, planning and development.
Ability to speak multiple languages.
