The
Classroom Media Support Part-Time Staff
provides hands-on technical support for camera-based coursework, student performances, workshops, and special events. This role includes responsibilities in
camera operation, lighting, audio, AV setup , and
technical classroom assistance
across studio and on-location environments. The position works closely with faculty to ensure smooth operation of in-class filming.
This role also supports
extension programs, performances, and special events , helping maintain technical consistency and a collaborative, professional environment for students.
Primary Responsibilities Camera & Classroom Support
Operate cameras during student scenes and classroom exercises
Design and set up classroom lighting, sets, and audio systems as needed
Set up and manage video carts for real-time classroom monitoring during filming
Log, upload, and distribute classroom footage to secure platforms or drives
Collaborate with acting and directing faculty to help teach and correct technical techniques for students
Supervise distribution and return of props and set dressing from AV stock
Live Performances & Event Filming
Operate camera and maintain slating/logging during performance recordings
Record and monitor in-camera audio
Coordinate with Audio Engineer to ensure all sound requirements are met (performance dependent)
Transfer of media cards to and from performance/event filming and performing backup to storage drive(s)
General AV Support
Troubleshoot AV needs for non-film classes and campus spaces
Deliver, set up, or remove AV equipment as requested
Assist with miscellaneous AV/media-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with
camera operation ,
lighting ,
sound recording , and
basic AV support
Familiarity with classroom and performance AV setups (video carts, microphones, monitors, etc.)
Ability to work independently and in collaboration with faculty and students
Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Availability for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
Highschool Diploma
Minimum 2 years of professional film or media production experience
Experience in camera operation, lighting, sound, and editing (Adobe Premiere Pro or similar).
Position Information
The regular schedule for this role is during the daytime, evening and weekend hours. 20-29 hours per week. This is subject to change based on department needs.
The pay range for this position is $19-$21 hourly.
This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check.
