Overview Tax Analysts is looking to hire a Deputy News Editor! The Deputy News Editor assists in updating and maintaining the Worldwide Tax Treaties research library. Ideal candidate is a conscientious and dependable self-starter with strong attention to detail who writes and communicates clearly and is able to meet daily deadlines. Must be flexible and willing to develop knowledge of WTT.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Researches and writes brief news stories for daily online publication.
Summarizes and processes treaties, news releases, and other documents in content management system.
Edits news stories and adds associations to cited treaties.
Checks for content accuracy, grammar, spelling, and consistency, in accordance with established policies and procedures and company style guide.
Oversees processing of documents and performs final review of files for quality assurance before publication.
Updates and maintains data in tables, treaties, and online tools to ensure accuracy.
Works in source code to enrich data and incorporate changes to treaties.
Communicates regularly with editors and production department staff to meet established deadlines.
May be asked to interact with product strategy team, developers, sales, and other departments.
Cross-trains with other department members and acts as backup for other team members as required or assigned.
Assists with training new hires as needed.
Undertakes special projects as requested.
Adheres to company style guide and established publication deadlines.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Demonstrated writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Highly detail-oriented and accurate
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain rapport
Strong organizational and communication skills
Works well in a team environment and independently
Ability to meet strict daily deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
Knowledge of foreign languages or international exposure a plus
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE BA in English, writing, or journalism, or equivalent experience required
2+ years editorial or proofreading experience
Thorough understanding of editorial and publication processes
Familiarity with online publishing and web-content management
Proficiency in Windows, Word, Adobe Acrobat, electronic databases, and web searching
Experience with XHTML preferred
