Licensed Architect – Industrial Development Design Lead Lead

Job Overview We are seeking a Licensed Architect with proven experience in industrial and flex development projects to lead the design, entitlement, and city approval process for a new 4 acre Flex building/warehouse in San Bernardino, California. This role is ideal for an independent professional or small design studio with deep knowledge of Southern California permitting, industrial site planning, and city submittal processes. You will work directly with ownership to create concept plans, coordinate consultants, and shepherd the design through local planning and building departments until permit is issued.
What You’ll Do Lead architectural design and site planning for a new light industrial or flex development project (approx. 4.3 acres).
Develop schematic, entitlement, and permit-level drawings in compliance with city and county zoning, building, and fire codes.
Prepare and submit applications to the City of San Bernardino for design review, CUP (if required), and permit approval.
Coordinate with civil engineers, landscape architects, and other consultants to produce a cohesive and approvable design package.
Communicate with city planners, engineers, and inspectors to resolve comments and move the project efficiently through review.
Provide code analysis, site utilization studies, and building layouts for optimal efficiency and leasable area.
Present design concepts and updates to ownership and relevant city departments as needed.
Guide the project from concept through permit issuance, ensuring timelines and budgets are maintained.
What You’ll Bring
Licensed Architect in the State of California (required).
5+ years of professional experience, with at least 3+ years in industrial, warehouse, or flex development projects.
Demonstrated experience working with Southern California jurisdictions (experience with the City of San Bernardino is a strong plus).
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp; ability to generate conceptual renderings and technical documentation.
Solid understanding of zoning, land use, building codes, and entitlement processes.
Excellent communication and project coordination skills; ability to work directly with ownership and city officials.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Experience leading or managing consultants through entitlement and construction document phases.
Preferred Experience
Prior work on industrial parks, logistics centers, or business park developments.
Familiarity with San Bernardino County planning procedures and CEQA/environmental requirements.
Experience coordinating civil and MEP consultants for integrated site design.resentation skills
