Posting Details The New Mexico Economic Development Department (NMEDD) works to enhance the state's economic growth and vitality by supporting businesses, communities, and individuals throughout New Mexico. NMEDD's mission is to create a diverse, sustainable economy through strategic partnerships, policies, and programs that foster job creation and business development. The Technology and Innovation Office works to grow the state's technology and innovation industries and support and attract businesses in those sectors.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within four weeks of closing date.
Why does the job exist? The Technology and Innovation Office (TIO) Communications and Data Specialist administers and manages the Office's communications, program marketing, and internal data metrics. Working closely with and under the supervision of the TIO Director, the Communications and Data Specialist position markets and communicates the programs, awards, and announcements of the Office to the public, engages with the technology and innovation ecosystem via marketing and communications, and tracks the data metrics of the Office and its programs.
How does it get done? The responsibilities of the Technology and Innovation Office (TIO) Communications and Data Specialist include:
Disseminating and promoting announcements and information on TIO programs, awards, and other developments, including coordinating the collection of information from TIO awardees and working with the EDD Public Information Officer and communications team to disseminate press releases, and identifying ways to engage with the broader technology and innovation communications ecosystem.
Establishing, maintaining, and updating all TIO information networks, including contract directories, list-serves, e-newsletter subscriptions, and social media accounts.
Developing, launching, and maintaining a Technology and Innovation Office Newsletter, including gathering and sharing both TIO information and statewide ecosystem updates.
Working with EDD communications staff to update and maintain TIO website pages, as well as additional TIO information, marketing, and branding within greater department materials and initiatives.
Leading the office initiative to identify, track, and maintain data metrics of TIO programs.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has experience in the following:
Working independently to gather relevant information and compose and distribute written materials and announcements
Composing clear, well-written, engaging and informational written material, including the ability to relay technical information in layman's terms
Developing and tracking programmatic data metrics for the purpose of impact storytelling and information sharing
Strategizing and executing on brand development and marketing
Maintaining and updating information on websites and social media accounts
Composing and designing informational and engaging e-newsletters
Working with ecosystem partners to share information and identify key ecosystem information to be shared
Identifying and reaching out to relevant nationwide industry and ecosystem media to generate relevant coverage
Proficiency in work management programs for tracking and managing projects and related data
Familiarity with the New Mexico technology and innovation ecosystem
Maintaining a positive attitude, good organizational and team communication skills, and flexibility in a new and developing workplace
Minimum Qualification Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements
This job may require occasional statewide travel, which will require the use of a state vehicle. Must obtain and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Must maintain a current driver's license.
