Marbleseed (formerly Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service—MOSES): Marbleseed is a farmer‑led nonprofit organization that emerged out of the Upper Midwest Organic Farming Conference, an event we’ve been putting on annually for over 35 years. The conference is known as the first and the largest organic farming conference in the United States. Throughout the year, Marbleseed also works with a community of 20,000 small and mid‑scale organic and sustainable farmers across the upper Midwest, to provide free and affordable, farmer‑led and -informed educational events, programs, and print and digital resources.
Job Summary: The Communications Specialist supports Marbleseed’s communications, social media, web presence, marketing, and events. This position reports to the Communications and Policy Manager. This person is skilled with layout and design and comfortable working with Adobe Creative Suite. A self‑directed and independent work style with the ability to work collaboratively in a seasonally fast‑paced work environment is critical.
Qualifications: Applicants must have at least 2 years of communications and administrative experience, proficiency using CRM tools, Adobe Creative Suite, and knowledge of social media management and trends. This position requires strong time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities. Must own vehicle and have valid drivers license for travel needs.
Preference for candidates who have experience with organic farming, food systems, and a passion to address systemic barriers to land, capital, and food access as well as the desire to tell the stories of their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities. Key Responsibilities: Digital Marketing
Marketing and communications support for events including Field Days, Trainings, and the Organic Farming Conference
Create email campaigns (Salsa CRM/Salsa Engage), including monthly eNewsletter
Oversee email lists, content development and assist with segmentation
Analyze email metrics, sharing results and adjust strategies based on outcomes
Works with Communications and Policy Manager to update the CRM for the purpose of farmer mobilization and engagement
Graphic Design / Visual Communication
Maintain brand consistency across all platforms and materials
Design and create collateral for organization, fundraising, events, and campaigns
Design quarterly publication, annual report, flyers, banners, posters, infographics, Marbleseed advertisements, and other marketing materials utilizing Adobe Creative Suite
Maintain photo and video library
Create and update content for Marbleseed’s website, collaborating and troubleshooting with web developers when necessary, and use google analytics to analyze website performance
Social Media
Manage existing social media platforms and identify new opportunities to remain current with trends and best practices, including production of video content
Create content for a compelling content calendar and campaigns reflecting Marbleseed’s mission to fuel audience and traffic growth, oversee analytics, and collaborate with social media influencers to elevate brand awareness
