About This Role Summary: Plans, creates, reviews, technical publications for flight simulators. Writing duties require an extensive knowledge of electronics and techniques to properly address the technical and training aspects of the position. Responsible for conducting structured classroom instruction and simulator on the job training (OJT) for all aspects of operation and maintenance of the simulator and its associated equipment. Evaluates and documents student performance. Also functions as a Technical Advisor for solving broad technical problems. Schedules all training activities. Answers complex technical questions escalated from team members/customers. Maintains good customer relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform classroom and simulator OJT instruction on simulator daily operation (e.g., start up, shut down, DORT) and maintenance, including corrective and preventive maintenance.
Ensures the training includes the utilization of all documentation that will be available to the simulator maintainers including commercial manuals and engineering drawings.
Teach students to troubleshoot, repair, replace, tune and align simulator systems utilizing all diagnostics available.
Conduct proficiency assessments and document training in accordance with customer requirements.
Develop training materials, courseware and implement improvements in training that will provide the maintenance students with the necessary skills and knowledge to maintain the simulator to the contractual maintenance level.
Generally works in an unsupervised environment.
Activities guided by contract, standards, directives, policies and delivered technical maintenance documentation.
Provide technical input to technical writers and other subject matter experts (SMEs).
Interfaces with subcontractors to arrange maintenance training on equipment that they provide to ensure all simulator subsystems are included in the instructor operation and maintenance course of instruction.
The incumbent must be willing to travel worldwide 30‑40% of the time.
Able to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Associate degree or equivalent.
Minimum of 8 years' experience with full flight simulators preferable in the operation and maintenance field.
Display a thorough understanding of simulator maintenance requirements.
Must be able to read drawings, schematics, plans and specifications.
Must develop all Maintenance related documents using in‑house and/or vendor provided documentation.
Must develop all training materials using in‑house and/or vendor provided documentation.
Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, include dynamic presentation skills.
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Enthusiastic, energetic and self‑motivated individuals with strong work ethic.
Preferred Skills
Previous experience in developing and/or conducting simulator maintenance training is beneficial.
Prior experience with DOD contractor is preferred.
Security Responsibilities Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need‑to‑know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources. Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
Work Environment
Work is performed in an environment where irritants such as noise from telephones, temperature and lighting variations may exist.
Must be able to tolerate simulator motion, vibrations and varying acoustical environments.
Ability to operate personal computer, communicate via video telephone, conduct live meetings, and use various training aids or simulator maintenance equipment.
Ability to lift over 40 pounds when required to perform maintenance related training exercises.
