TITLE:
CAD Tooling Designer
Comp:
$32–34/hour (plus overtime at 1.5x)
Location:
Decatur, Indiana
Job Responsibilities
Create detailed 3D models and fully parametric tooling assemblies from customer specifications.
Generate BOMs (Bills of Materials) and work instructions for each project.
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously — ranging from 1-day tasks to week-long builds.
Collaborate directly with customers and internal teams to ensure manufacturability of designs.
Support foundry projects by designing tooling for sand casting, including patterns, core boxes, and match plates.
Coordinate with project management and production to deliver tooling on time and within budget.
Occasionally assist on the production floor as needed (“wear many hats” company culture).
Utilize prior project templates and CAD data to streamline new designs.
Contribute to a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
Required Skills
2+ years of experience in a CAD design or tooling role, preferably in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
Proficiency in 3D modeling (CAD, SolidWorks, PRO-E, or similar).
Experience creating BOMs and detailed work instructions.
Strong understanding of tooling and parametric modeling principles.
Preferred Skills
Foundry or casting industry experience.
Background in machining or toolmaking.
Knowledge of fixture, jig, or work‑holding design.
Hands‑on problem‑solving and collaboration skills.

Hours:
Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–4:30 PM; Friday, 7:00 AM–11:00 AM.
