Administrative Support Specialist

The Position: This position will provide administrative support to a team of Magistrate Judges by reviewing case files after hearings, processing documents filed in court, preparing and distributing notices and orders, maintaining accurate calendars, and ensuring all files are properly scanned, tracked, and placed in their designated locations. It generates reports such as motion pull reports and under-advisement reports, monitors deadlines, prepares pay affidavits, and serves as primary support for Team 2 and Team 3 Magistrates across a range of case types, including CINA, delinquency, domestic violence, civil, and probate matters. The role also provides direct customer service to parties, attorneys, staff, and the public regarding court procedures and case information, and offers in-court support by assisting with scheduling, preparing documents during hearings, and serving as a back-up in-court clerk when needed. Additionally, it acts as back-up for other Judicial Assistant desks within the Probate/Childrens Division and performs other duties as assigned to ensure efficient and accurate court operations. This position is assigned to the courts classified service; incumbents will attain regular status after completion of the initial probationary period. The Work Environment: There are seven Magistrate Judges and three Chambers Judicial Assistants who work together closely. You will be located in the Nesbett Courthouse located on 4th Avenue in downtown Anchorage. You will receive a parking pass for the courthouse parking garage. Work Hours: Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday

Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
