MIG Los Angeles . The position is full‑time and located in our San Diego office.
Responsibilities
Collaborative Teammate: Work as part of a cross‑discipline team creating plans for neighborhoods, districts, and communities across California and beyond.
Project Management: Lead teams to produce bold, innovative, and equitable planning and urban design solutions via general plans, specific plans, and zoning regulations. Build and maintain client relationships, manage scopes, budgets, and schedules, and oversee sub‑consultants and client teams.
Project Work: Provide overarching project direction to MIG staff, develop and oversee scopes of work, budgets, and schedules, produce high‑quality planning documents, represent clients at public hearings and meetings, and set standards for excellence, responsiveness, and accountability.
Project Types: Typical projects include citywide comprehensive plans, corridor plans, downtown plans, housing strategies, and parks and recreation system plans.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in planning, urban design, landscape architecture, public policy, geography, or a related field; a master’s degree is a plus.
Relevant consulting experience in planning or a closely related field with experience producing written plan documents, planning strategies, and associated analysis.
Demonstrated project management experience, including maintaining compliance with project contracts, drafting and managing scopes and budgets, and maintaining schedules.
Excellent public presentation, meeting facilitation, and stakeholder communication skills.
Knowledge and interest in the intersection of design, planning, and equity, and ability to build collaborative, respectful relationships with community members.
Strong written and verbal communication, including graphics and document presentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ArcGIS/ArcPro, and Adobe InDesign; experience in the rest of Adobe Creative Suite and/or SketchUp is a plus.
Ability to participate in marketing and business development opportunities, develop proposals, and maintain client and partner relationships.
Bilingual with Spanish language skills is a plus.
