Summary:
The Data Center Systems and Design Program Manager (DC‑SDPM) designs and implements security systems for our client’s global data centers and manages the related program. The role includes day‑to‑day project efforts, leading key project teams and partners to deliver security solutions and maintaining strong client relationships.
Essential Functions
Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and schedule.
Develop detailed project plan with timelines, milestones, and resource requirements.
Identify risks and establish risk‑management strategies.
Evaluate local partner capabilities.
Provide cost estimates for new projects (Project Expenditure Request).
Provide risk‑based consulting services for all projects.
Conduct security risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and threats.
Tender security requirement packages and provide evaluated results and recommendations to stakeholders.
Program Leadership & Strategy
Lead security systems and design program, defining strategy, governance, and delivery frameworks.
Develop a multi‑year roadmap for security technology deployment and lifecycle management.
Translate organizational security goals into actionable design and implementation plans.
Collaborate with internal partners (Data Center Engineering, Construction, IT, Operations, and Compliance) to align security initiatives with business priorities.
Provide visibility into program progress, risks, and outcomes through executive reporting and performance metrics.
Project Participation
Participate in all project calls and maintain a dedicated security touch‑base call weekly.
Maintain active tracker in Smartsheet or SharePoint for security or dependency trade issues/deliverables.
Ensure security integrator attends when unavailable.
Issue meeting minutes and action items within one business day.
Ensure compliance with Global Security Design Requirements, GDPR, client standards, costs, and quality.
Maintain client relationships and ensure satisfaction.
Stay current on working practices, risks, threats, regulations, standards, and technology.
Retain full accountability of assigned projects from inception to completion, providing handover and support to project manager.
Support audits as instructed.
Communication
Establish communication channels (Teams, email, meetings) for effective information flow.
Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date trackers/reporting tools and provide daily, weekly, monthly reporting metrics.
Address stakeholder concerns and manage expectations.
Maintain communication cadence per client expectations.
Delegate duties when out of office to maintain tasks.
Share best practices and collaborate across the organization.
Program Management
Foster a positive team culture and resolve conflicts or issues during execution.
Create a project plan for every project, large or small.
Keep schedules updated within the last two weeks.
Maintain a central repository for large and small project plans.
Document all issues, risks, gaps, and exceptions in Smartsheet raid log promptly.
Identify potential risks and develop risk response strategies.
Monitor risk triggers and implement contingency plans.
Escalate site issues impacting security/schedule/cost within 24 hours, unless critical for immediate communication.
Delivery
Pull in partners 6‑8 weeks in advance of completion to align on schedule.
Verify site security plan, design specifications, and installation documentation are completed to standards.
Coordinate commissioning activities and ensure access to necessary locations.
Physical Inspection & Testing
Conduct thorough inspection of all physical security components.
Witness‑test each security system individually for proper functionality.
Verify integration between systems and ensure network connectivity.
Document results and corrective actions.
Environmental & Power Testing
Witness‑test environmental monitoring systems.
Verify power backup systems (UPS, generators) operational.
Verify alarm notification system configuration and delivery.
Document and train on operations and troubleshooting.
