Newsletter Editor, San Antonio
Location: Remote (San Antonio, TX-based)

COURIER Texas is hiring a Newsletter Editor to launch and grow a flagship email product for the San Antonio region, delivering a blend of local news, political coverage, and lifestyle stories, and developing a branded product to drive subscriber growth and engagement.
Responsibilities
Write and curate content for a regional newsletter published five times a week.
Collaborate with newsletter department leaders to experiment with subscriber growth strategies.
Use audience feedback and engagement metrics such as open rates to refine content strategy and improve reader satisfaction.
Work with the Social Strategist to expand reach through multimedia content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.
Pitch, pilot, and launch new niche newsletter products.
Publish originally reported, wire, or Creative Commons articles to the newsroom’s website.
Update the homepage regularly.
Own newsletter growth and retention, experimenting with marketing strategies.
Analyze data (open rates, click‑through rates, subscriber trends) and implement A/B testing, audience segmentation, and optimizations.
Develop distribution strategies and cross‑promotions.
Edit and publish wire, freelance, and partner content.
Film and edit presenter‑led videos for social platforms.
Create simple graphics in Canva.
Qualifications
Passion for building long‑term engagement with a target audience.
Experience in newsletter writing, editing, or production, ideally in a newsroom or media organization.
Strong writing and editing skills, with at least 3+ years of audience‑centered reporting in San Antonio.
Willingness to appear on camera.
Familiarity with email analytics and performance metrics, including open rates and click‑through rates.
Experience with an email service provider such as Mailchimp, Substack, Sailthru, Campaign Monitor, or similar.
Strong collaboration with other newsletter editors and stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams across social, marketing, and revenue functions.
Familiarity with Canva, Capcut, Descript, etc.
Strong grasp of AP style.
Ability to manage multiple editorial projects in a fast‑paced environment.
