Job Description We are seeking a skilled interior designer/drafter to support our growing NYC-based studio. This is a contract position with flexible hours, starting at 10 hours per week on a project basis. The role is remote, with an optional in-person office workspace available at our NYC studio.
Key Responsibilities Drafting & Rendering:
Create detailed 2D floor plans, elevations, and construction drawing sets in AutoCAD
Develop 3D models and renderings in SketchUp, Rhino, or similar programs
Produce custom furniture and millwork drawings
Create visually compelling client presentation materials
Project Support
Assist with material specifications and selections (tile, stone, finishes)
Coordinate drawing packages for contractors and vendors
Develop FF&E schedules and documentation
Support project documentation from concept through installation
Qualifications
3 years professional experience in interior architectural drafting
Expert proficiency in AutoCAD
Strong skills in 3D modeling software (SketchUp, Rhino, or similar)
Experience with residential interior design and renovations
Deep knowledge of materials, finishes, and construction methods
Nice to have:
Established vendor and trade resources in New York area
Experience with custom furniture design and detailing
Work Arrangement
Freelance/contract basis with flexible scheduling
Remote work possible with occasional in-person coordination as needed
Optional in-person office workspace available at our Nomad studio
About Our Company Noah Ruttenberg is a designer based in New York City. He received a Masters in Interior Design from the Paris College of Art and a B.A. in History of Art and Architecture and French from Brown University. Ruttenberg’s projects include both residential and commercial spaces, with an eye for handcrafted details, thoughtful layering, and a clever mix of old and new.
