In this vital role within the Sleep Lab, the Polysomnographic Tech or Registered Respiratory Therapist will make a huge impact on patient care. Whether you are new to Respiratory Therapy and/or Sleep Lab, or already have your RPSGT, this position is perfect for individuals who enjoy working independently and are passionate about sleep therapy.

Shift:

Monday- Friday, 6pm-6am. Three 12hr shifts. Location:

Wyoming Medical Center East, Sleep Lab. Certification:

Must be RRT or RPSGT certified Polysomnographic Tech.

Position Summary This position independently performs prescribed diagnostic sleep monitoring studies, which may include home sleep tests, to patients. The role analyzes the results to aid clinicians with diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and care of patients, and serves as a resource to the department.

Core Functions

Obtains artifact-free sleep tracings that accurately reflect physiologic processes occurring during patient sleep using the latest technology.

Analyzes all types of sleep records, identifies and documents sleep stages, and quantifies physiologic processes during data acquisition, summarizing this information as per departmental policies.

Ensures accurate and readable recordings by troubleshooting minor problems and making adjustments during the testing process.

Collects and/or reviews pertinent medical, historical, and medication information to perform the appropriate study prescribed by the physician.

Assists with the development of department policies, procedures, and processes; facilitates testing and maintains quality to achieve optimal patient results.

Assists leadership with operations, scheduling, orientation, and training of new technical staff; may conduct or lead educational in-services and case study presentations.

Ensures quality assurance standards as outlined by departmental policies and regulatory agencies.

Acts as a resource to the department and interacts with internal customers (nursing management, medical staff, interdisciplinary team) and external customers (regulatory agencies, patients and families).

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent working knowledge.

Registry by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists or proof of having passed the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

Minimum three years of experience in all aspects of sleep disorders testing.

Proficient in the use and theory of all equipment related to sleep testing.

Thorough knowledge of the sleep/wake cycle, its pathologies, EEG theory appropriate to sleep monitoring, and cardiopulmonary physiology during sleep.

Demonstrates critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.
