POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Associate VP of Communications, the Regional Communications Directorplays an integral, supporting role within the YMCA of the Triangle’s Marketing & Communications team. As one of several Communications Directors supporting the Association’s facility branches and camps, this position serves as the primary communications contact for assigned locations and acts as a key liaison between those branches and the Y’s corporate office at the Association Resource Center. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as the primary communications contact for assigned branches, building strong relationships with leadership and staff. Provide hands-on support for branch communications, including promoting member events and programs, strengthening community engagement and assisting with timely issue management. Collaborate with the Association Marketing & Communications team to ensure materials and messaging reflect YMCA brand standards and organizational priorities. Develop and deliver clear, accurate and timely communications in response to sensitive or emerging issues. Provide writing, editing and proofreading support for print and digital materials, including newsletters, temporary signage and web content. Manage and coordinate signage and communications across facilities, campuses and offsite program locations in consultation with the Association Marketing & Communications team and in compliance with YMCA brand standards. Coordinate photography, video and other visual content needs with the Marketing & Communications team. Maintain effective communication between assigned locations and the Marketing & Communications team to align strategies and share best practices. Ensure compliance with YMCA of the Triangle’s branding, messaging and social media guidelines. Represent the YMCA’s mission and values through all communications with members, staff and community partners. Perform other duties as assigned by branch or Association leadership. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field, or 2-3 years of equivalent professional experience. Demonstrated success in communications, public relations or community engagement, ideally in a mission-driven or service organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with website content management systems, email marketing platforms and graphic design programs. Excellent writing, editing and interpersonal communication skills. Strong analytical and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, work effectively under pressure and identify practical solutions. High level of initiative and professionalism, with a proven ability to foster collaboration across teams, departments and locations. Multilingual skills a plus but not required. Regular use of a computer and phone/smart device for communication and work tasks. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching; occasional lifting or moving up to 40 lbs Some work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions Must be able to provide valid identification for employment eligibility verification. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation. A clean driving record is required to meet YMCA insurance standards. Travel between branch and/or site locations, and to off-site meetings and events is required. Must be accessible to support branches during evenings, nights and occasional weekends.
