We are seeking a Curriculum Writer to join our content team and help turn high-level course outlines into engaging, student-ready learning materials. In this execution-heavy role, you will take proof-of-concept instructional outlines and transform them into clear, well-structured scripts and PowerPoint storyboards tailored for middle school students (grades 7–9). You’ll work closely with subject matter experts to ensure each lesson flows logically, meets learning objectives, and keeps young learners engaged. This position is a great fit for someone who loves hands-on content creation, has an eye for detail, and can write in a clear, concise style that’s appropriate for 12–15 year-old students.

The ideal candidate has 3–7 years of experience and a background in education or instructional design, with a proven ability to develop educational content. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with SMEs: Work closely with Subject Matter Experts to understand project goals, sequence instructional content, and co-define clear learning objectives for each module.
  • Blueprint to Script: Translate high-level proof of concept outlines into detailed instructional blueprints, then expand those outlines into complete, student-facing scripts.
  • Storyboarding: Develop PowerPoint-based storyboards that visualize the lesson, ensuring a strong instructional flow and pacing that is age-appropriate and engaging.
  • Content Writing: Write clear, concise, and lively content suitable for middle school learners. This includes explanations, examples, transitions, and dialogue/narration that keep students interested and on track.
  • Smooth Transitions: Ensure instructional sections and activities connect seamlessly. The flow between topics or lesson segments should be easy to follow, with transitions that feel natural and cohesive for students.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, English, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, teaching, or a related educational field, with a track record of creating effective instructional materials.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for grammar, tone, and consistency in educational content. Ability to write in a student-friendly voice is a must.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel (and familiarity with Microsoft Word) – ability to create organized, visually clear storyboards and presentations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, enabling you to juggle multiple projects and meet development milestones.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT or Perplexity) to enhance and accelerate content development.
  • Familiarity with project-based learning methodologies and/or STEM education principles. – our curriculum always emphasizes hands-on, real-world projects.
  • Adaptability and a proactive mindset – comfortable pivoting when requirements change and open to continuous learning and feedback.
  • Visual design sense – ability to suggest or incorporate simple graphics or media in storyboards to support learning (no heavy graphic design required, but an eye for layout is helpful).


Collaboration & Workflow

  • Mentorship: Work closely with our Curriculum Editor, who will mentor you and help you get up to speed with our content and processes.
  • Reporting: Report directly to the Content Team Manager, with regular 1:1 meetings and clear guidance as you navigate your responsibilities. You’ll receive structured feedback, mentorship, and the tools needed to succeed in your role.
  • Collaboration: Partner with freelance curriculum writers, subject matter experts, and our QA/media production teams to ensure each module is accurate, engaging, and high-quality. Much of your work will involve coordinating with others to gather input and refine content.
  • Workflow: Follow a structured development process from start to finish. You will begin with a high-level outline from an SME and sequence it into a detailed blueprint, then write the full script and create the storyboard. At each stage, you’ll incorporate feedback from SMEs and review sessions to iterate and improve the material before it moves to production.


Location: Hybrid role based in New Orleans, LA. You will work partially on-site for regular team collaborations and partially remotely for focused design work. Candidates must live within commuting distance of New Orleans (e.g., NOLA metro, Kenner, Lafayette, Mandeville) or be willing to relocate, as regular in-person work at our New Orleans office is required.
