Job Summary

This position provides support for various functions at the Georgia Highlands College Writing Center located at the Cartersville site. Must be a current GHC student, enrolled for at least six (6) credit hours.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, support, and carry out the college’s mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
  • Conduct individualized sessions to support students with brainstorming, organizing, drafting, revising, and editing writing assignments.
  • Provide constructive, respectful feedback on content, structure, clarity, and mechanics without rewriting the student’s work.
  • Maintain accurate records of sessions and follow Writing Center protocols.
  • Utilize and promote Writing Center resources such as handouts, workshops, and class visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Note: This is not a supervisory position; the Writing Center Coordinator will assign tasks and direct work.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and current GHC undergraduate student.
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) currently being met.
  • Current‑Year FAFSA on file with all verifications and any other requirements completed.
  • Currently enrolled for at least six (6) credit hours.
  • Some prior experience is preferred but not required; job‑specific training will be provided.

Proposed Salary

$12.00 per hour, 19 hours per week max.

  • Ability to demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
