The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Dallas‑Fort Worth region, which is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States.
The Transportation Department of NCTCOG is seeking a Communications Specialist to support its public involvement program. This position will assist with public meetings, public comments, a virtual public engagement platform and contribute to major communications and public relations activities. Responsibilities
Draft public meeting notices, coordinate presentation materials and prepare meeting minutes
Coordinate and attend in‑person public meetings at the NCTCOG main campus in Arlington and throughout the Dallas‑Fort Worth region
Support implementation of public involvement strategies and tactics for special transportation and air quality‑related projects
Utilize the department’s virtual public engagement platform to host online and hybrid public meetings
Coordinate with department staff on responses to public comments and prepare monthly comment reports
Evaluate communication and outreach strategies specifically related to department public involvement efforts through data tracking and analysis
Contribute creative and innovative ideas for improving the public involvement process
Support implementation of marketing and public relations strategies for educational campaigns whose main target audiences are members of the Dallas‑Fort Worth business community
Coordinate business outreach efforts, including site visits and stakeholder meetings
Serve as a Transportation Department representative by attending committee meetings and events
Skills and Requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher and Outlook
Familiarity with Adobe Communications Cloud and design software
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Detail‑oriented and highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments and work well in a deadline‑driven environment
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Experience
Bachelor’s degree in strategic communications, public relations, marketing, public administration or a related field (four years of college)
Over one year of related work experience
Salary Minimum of $55,601.96 – $66,722.35 annually.
