Event Planner – Stanford Computer Science Department
Department:
Stanford Computer Science Department, located in Stanford Engineering. This role is to plan and execute departmental events such as commencement, seminars, conferences, alumni events, and other related events. The successful candidate will consult with stakeholders to determine objectives and requirements, manage logistics, assemble teams, and oversee pre‑ and post‑event evaluations.
In This Role, You Will:
Design, plan, implement, and coordinate customized events.
Evaluate and select vendors and providers of services considering stakeholder requests and requirements.
Serve as a member of an events team, contributing to event logistics, facilities, and budget allocation.
Consult with stakeholders to determine objectives and requirements.
Inspect event facilities to ensure they conform to event needs.
Manage accounting operations related to registration, including daily accounting procedures and reports, final monetary summaries, and account transfers.
Lead smaller‑scale events or coordinate teams for larger‑scale events.
Utilize and/or maintain complex databases and specialized event planning software.
Inspect event facilities for maintenance, janitorial, and fire‑safety issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience (Required):
Associate degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required):
Demonstrated success planning events.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to set priorities and handle multiple time‑sensitive projects.
Demonstrated creativity, problem‑solving, initiative, judgment, and decision‑making skills.
Ability to accomplish goals through formal and informal channels with diplomacy and tact.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, time‑management, and customer‑service skills; well organized and detail oriented.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and other online documents such as Google Docs.
Ability to collaborate with a broad spectrum of groups and customers.
Certifications and Licenses:
Must possess and maintain a valid California non‑commercial Class C Driver’s License.
Working Conditions:
May require some travel and working evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
Frequently stand, walk, sit, perform desk‑based computer tasks, use a telephone.
Occasionally kneel/crawl, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly or forcefully, lift/carry objects that weigh 21–40 pounds.
Ability to drive day and night.
Pay Range:
The expected pay range for this position is $72,972 to $87,751 per annum.
