Film Production and Classroom Media Equipment Coordinator
supports both academic and production activities within the Film & Video Production program, managing and maintaining all camera and video equipment used in classroom instruction, student projects, and campus productions. The role ensures students and faculty have the tools and support needed for a successful hands‑on learning experience and also fulfills the responsibilities of Film Production Support Staff. Primary Responsibilities
Maintain and update inventory of all film‑related gear and equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, tripods, audio equipment, accessories, classroom props, and furniture. Assist the Senior Manager of Film Production and the AV Media Manager in the check‑out/check‑in process of all equipment for courses, projects, staff, and requested usage. Inspect equipment regularly for damage or wear; perform minor repairs or escalate to the AV Media Manager for professional servicing as needed. Organize equipment storage spaces regularly. Assist the AV Media Manager and Senior Manager of Film Production in equipment budgeting for the fiscal year. Collaborate with faculty and department staff to align technical resources with curriculum needs. Maintain a safe and organized equipment room, ensuring all gear is labeled, stored properly, and accessible. Stay current on new technologies and recommend equipment upgrades or purchases when necessary. Production Project Support
Pre‑Production Support
Under the guidance of the Lead Film & Production Editing Staff Member, collaborate with faculty and student directors on shot lists, production planning, and location scouting. Assist in training students on their crew roles and responsibilities. Production Support
Serve in active production roles as needed and assigned by the Lead Film & Production Editing Staff Member, including: cinematographer, location sound mixer, line producer, lighting and other camera support. Support, advise, and mentor student crews on set. Handle equipment transportation. Post‑Production Support
Logging and syncing footage. Assembly, rough cut, multiple drafts, and final cut (project dependent). Adding titles and credits. Color correction and audio mixing. Guide students through editing workflows in Premiere Pro or similar NLEs (project dependent). Train student crews and directors on post‑production tasks (project dependent). Responsibilities Outside Of Production Project Support
Film camera courses, student scenes, and campus performances as assigned. Perform editing on institutional projects and performance footage as needed. Mentor and support Student Worker Camera Assistants. Operate and support room and equipment in classroom, performance spaces, and occasional off‑site locations, including lighting, projection, sound, and other necessary AV setup and filming needs. Serve as support for courses, students, and instructors while working in a collaborative office environment. Foster a collaborative, professional environment where students are supported and challenged. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Experience with professional video/film production equipment. Strong organizational and inventory management skills. Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of film gear. Proficiency with editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, etc.). Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff. Ability to lift and transport equipment as needed. Flexibility to support evening or weekend productions on occasion. Bachelor's degree in film production, Media Arts, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of professional film or media production experience. Experience in camera operation, lighting, sound, and editing (Adobe Premiere Pro or similar). Position Information
Regular schedule: weekdays and daytime hours, 20‑29 hours per week (subject to change based on department needs). Pay range: $26‑$28 per hour. Position subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check. Diversity And Qualifications
