Library Technician V - Shift Work - Maui

Location: Wailuku Public Library, Maui County, HI
Salary: $3,606 to $4,563 per month (SR-11, Step C to I)
Shift Work: Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Duties Summary: Perform highly complex library support work; supervise and participate in performing complex library support work; and/or perform substantive technical/paraprofessional library support work which requires knowledge and understanding of techniques used in one or more of the basic elements of library sciences; and perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Legal Authorization To Work: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
General Experience: One (1) year of clerical work experience, demonstrating knowledge of spelling and arithmetic; ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions, and compare words and numbers quickly and accurately. Must also demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform various clerical procedures, operate various kinds of office equipment, and deal with others tactfully and politely. Comparable to Library Assistant II level.
Specialized Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a library involving various library support activities (e.g., circulation work, stack maintenance, processing orders for library materials, posting receipt of periodicals, locating and verifying bibliographic information, etc.) demonstrating knowledge and application of library terminology, practices, policies and procedures and understanding of the nature and organization of library materials. At least one year of this experience must be comparable to Library Assistant IV level.
Supervisory Aptitude: May be required. Demonstration of supervisory potential through successful completion of tasks involving supervisory responsibilities or aspects, such as serving as a group or team leader, completing supervision training courses, or receiving favorable appraisals.
