Bryan College seeks to fill a part-time faculty role in its department of Communication, Media, & Fine Arts. The Faculty Fellow in Strategic & Social Communication will teach two courses (6 credit hours) per semester across the following topics: social media as communication, strategic communication, public relations, mass communication, creative production.

Faculty Fellows in this position will integrate faith and learning in the classroom and will demonstrate excellence in teaching while supporting the mission to “educate students to become servants of Christ to make a difference in today’s world.” Faculty should possess a strong academic and/or professional background and a commitment to a biblical worldview. Faculty will have the opportunity to shape students’ intellectual and spiritual growth within a vibrant, faith-based academic community.

Reports to: Dean of Humanities & Social Sciences

Education Required

  • Master’s degree in field of study and/or substantive, relevant professional experience

Experience Required

  • Knowledge of principles, methods and current developments in the academic discipline and in professional practice.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching the courses assigned.
  • Ability to create a syllabus and effectively deliver the learning objectives of the course.
  • Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
  • Ability to learn relevant sections of BrightSpace, Bryan College’s online learning management system.
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.

Duties

  • Teach a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester and provide timely feedback and grades to students.
  • Prepare course plans and materials.
  • Serve students.
  • Keep weekly office hours to support student success and to personalize instruction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other Information

  • Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be committed to serving Him and His church.
  • Working hours will consist of (a) presence to teach courses and (b) required office hours (one office hour per credit hour taught). Faculty Fellows may also be invited to participate in other dimensions of campus life.
  • Longer hours may be required at various times during the year.
  • Light physical activity such as walking and standing is required on a daily basis.
