Job Summary

Demonstrate library ethics and skills; conduct daily library classes; assist students and staff in locating instructional, reference, and leisure reading materials; promote authors and award‑winning literature; collaborate with staff to research and prepare requisitions for books and web links.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct daily library classes and maintain accurate circulation records.
• Assist students and staff in locating instructional, reference, and leisure materials.
• Manage library catalog, oversee checking books in/out, and shelve returned inventory.
• Notify patrons of overdue/damaged items.
• Mark books with AR (or reading level) identifiers and maintain testing lists.
• Process new materials for checkout and inter‑library loan requests.
• Operate audiovisual equipment, troubleshoot problems, and perform simple book repairs.
• Collaborate with staff to research curriculum items and prepare requisitions.
• Administer approved library budget, coordinate with principals and vendors within budget guidelines.
• Prepare and shelve current and back‑issue magazines.
• Maintain inventory of library and textbook records, supplies, and equipment.
• Develop relationships with vendors and district personnel.
• Perform crossing guard duties and lunchroom monitor duties as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Training, and Experience

• Must be ESSA‑qualified: WorkKeys or 48+ college semester hours or higher.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0‑2 years experience in a library environment or office management.
• Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Criminal background check and district fingerprinting required.
