Salary Range: $109,324.80 USD to $191,318.40 USD
Position Summary
Optimize the value of Grant PUD’s Power Supply portfolio by maximizing the combined value of capacity, energy, and non-carbon attributes while monitoring and maintaining the recommended energy risk profile. Develop, analyze, and negotiate structured energy power transactions and maintain key relationships with wholesale counterparties. Make economical operational decisions.
Essential Functions
- Maximize the value of Grant PUD’s power supply portfolio by optimizing capacity, energy, non-carbon attributes and other ancillary services with existing risk policy; negotiate structured transactions; and maintain strong wholesale relationships.
- Identify and evaluate potential new power supply resources (owned or contracted) to support Grant PUD’s portfolio needs; lead or support negotiation of commercial terms, contracts, and integration strategies to ensure alignment with long-term planning, risk profile, and clean energy goals.
- Monitor market trends and activities for potential impacts to Grant PUD and actively participate in industry forums and activities related to wholesale markets. Represent Grant PUD on initiatives involving market evolution such as resource adequacy, carbon and clean energy, and organized markets. Monitor California ISO and SPP Markets+ and represent Grant PUD’s interests on relevant topics.
- Coordinate and support Grant PUD’s Large Power Solutions group in managing large power purchaser relationships, developing contract and rate setting strategies, drafting agreements and policies. Support efforts to meet the carbon-free power needs of Grant PUD’s retail customers and explore possible structured products.
- Support Grant’s long-term resource planning by participating in developing and updating the Integrated Resource Plan, long-term power portfolio planning, economic analysis of future resources, and regional forums related to long-term resource planning.
- Perform related duties as required or assigned.

- Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies and procedures.
- In this position, if needed to operate a GPUD vehicle for business purposes, refer to the Vehicle/Asset Usage Policy, IS-TA-POL-001.
- Actively participate in all aspects of the safety program, including: following safety policies and procedures; alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe conditions; reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor; and accepting feedback regarding safety performance.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Business Administration, or similar field, or 2 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Ten (10) years of experience in power marketing, origination, energy markets, or energy portfolio management.
Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications):
- Experience negotiating structured transactions, managing wholesale relationships, supporting long-term resource planning, and advocating policy positions in organized markets and regulatory forums.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of concepts, principles, theories, and methods surrounding power marketing standards and best practices; understanding of hydro-electric power generation operations; project management tools and techniques; financial management philosophies and budgetary guidelines associated with managing large expenditures.
- Strong judgement, decision-making under pressure, written and oral communication, ability to analyze problems with limited data and advise stakeholders; time management; proficiency with MS Office and relevant financial/reporting software.
