Studio Manager and Development Associate

We are currently looking for a highly organized and proactive studio manager to join this dynamic, award‑winning practice at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, and research. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a creative environment and enjoys supporting and engaging diverse aspects of cultural/spatial practices. The position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a small, collaborative team, supporting the studio’s continuing work while shaping and helping to broaden the practice’s reach. If applicable, the role can be combined with other responsibilities within the studio, such as engaging in research projects or managing publications.

N H D M is a New York-based practice for design and research operating at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, and research. Founded by partners Nahyun Hwang and David Eugin Moon, the firm has worked on a wide range of cultural/institutional, dwelling, and community and public space projects, as well as urban landscapes and territorial‑scale design and research. The work of N H D M has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2023 Architectural League Emerging Voices award, the 2023 and 2019 Graham Foundation Grant, the 2020 Architectural Record Design Vanguard Award, the 2019 DOMUS’ 100+ best architecture firms, the 2018 AIANY New Practices New York award, and multiple AIANY Design Awards.

Location: New York, NY, US. Type: Part‑time.

Responsibilities

  • Managing day‑to‑day office operations, scheduling, and communications
  • Providing administrative support to partners and design staff
  • Overseeing office space and supplies
  • Handling basic bookkeeping tasks
  • Development activities, including researching and reviewing development opportunities, and preparing proposals
  • Managing the studio’s internal and public communications

Qualifications

  • Familiarity or interest in architecture, design research, art, and cultural practices
  • Enthusiastic about contributing to the studio
  • Exceptionally detail‑oriented with excellent research, organizational, and communication skills
  • Responsible, resourceful, and capable of working independently and collaboratively
  • Proficient with Google/Microsoft Office suites. Ability to learn basics of InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
