About the Role
Mesa is seeking an experienced Senior Designer for Power Substation Physical Design.
The role requires 8 to 14 years of experience in the U.S. power industry and hands‑on knowledge of substation design at voltage levels ranging from 34.5 kV to 500 kV.
The Senior Designer will provide engineered physical designs for construction of Power Substations, lead or review design projects from conceptual through completion, and work in an in‑office (hybrid) collaborative environment.
Location: Hybrid work environment (home and office).
Candidates must reside in the Knoxville, TN area.
Responsibilities
Perform Physical Substation design with a high degree of accuracy and quality.
Work effectively as part of a team and independently on assigned projects.
Use MicroStation (and/or Autodesk Inventor) to create and review deliverables.
Interact with customers to meet their schedule and budgeting requirements.
Review the work of other team members.
Perform work safely, following all safety guidelines.
Qualifications
A minimum of an associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related field.
8 to 14 years of experience in power utility industry substation design.
Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation and/or Autodesk Inventor (preferred).
Strong communication skills at all levels with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
Ability to lead and/or review design projects from conceptual through construction documents.
At this time, Mesa cannot transfer nor sponsor a work visa for this position.
