Assistant Professor (Marketing) 9‑month appointment
Open Date: September 17, 2025. The position will be filled as soon as a qualified candidate is selected.
Location Springfield Campus, Missouri State University – Department of Marketing.
Overview Assistant Professor – 9‑month appointment (tenure‑track). The position is also listed for a Clinical Assistant Professor (non‑tenure track). Only one appointment will be filled.
General Function The Assistant Professor is a member of the ranked faculty with an intermediate academic rank who has demonstrated achievement in the areas of teaching, research, and professional service appropriate to the discipline. The assistant professor’s teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. The assistant professor engages in scholarly activities beyond those associated with teaching and is expected to demonstrate professional productivity in research, based upon the availability of resources and consistent with the mission of the University.
Description of Primary Duties The faculty’s teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as a faculty advisor to a student organization and/or student team for competitions. Primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and/or graduate courses such as Operations Management, Purchasing and Supply Management, Business Process Management, Purchasing and Supply Management, Introduction to Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Logistics, and Supply Chain Management & Sustainability, among others, as needed. Teaching assignments will include seated, blended, and/or online classes.
Candidates must have a demonstrated track record or show an ability to publish in peer‑reviewed quality discipline‑based journals. Candidates must also satisfy AACSB requirements to achieve and maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status, and must maintain an active research agenda. They are also required to provide service to the Department of Marketing, College of Business, Missouri State University, the local/regional community, and the profession.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Assistant Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook.
Additional Qualifications Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management or Marketing with an emphasis in Supply Chain Management/Logistics/Operations Management from an AACSB‑accredited institution. Candidates who are ABD at the time of application will also be considered if they are in a position to complete their doctoral degree no later than the start date.
Candidates should have university teaching experience. The ability to work with and develop working relationships with colleagues and students is a must. Candidates must be committed to working for the professional success of all students.
