Summary of the Role As a Civil/Structural Designer, you will support project teams through design drafting, data collection, modeling, and layout development using modern CAD and BIM tools. This role includes occasional travel to client sites for meetings, field measurements, or data gathering. For entry-level candidates, part‑time or full‑time schedules are available with the intention of transitioning to long‑term, full‑time employment.
This is a hybrid position after training; remote‑only candidates cannot be considered. No relocation is offered.
What You’ll Do
Support engineering teams through drafting and design using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, and other industry tools.
Assist in developing civil and structural design layouts, including foundations, framing, and site‑related features.
Prepare drawings that comply with applicable codes, constructability standards, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Collect and interpret field data, including measurements, elevations, or existing conditions.
Maintain accuracy and quality in all design deliverables.
Collaborate with other disciplines to support cohesive, well‑coordinated project outcomes.
Learn and apply modern technologies such as GPS surveying, laser scanning, and BIM methodologies.
Navigate client facilities safely during field visits.
Manage multiple tasks and deadlines within a fast‑paced project environment.
Qualifications
25 years of drafting experience in civil/structural design (newer graduates are welcome to apply).
Vocational or associates degree in Computer‑Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) or related field (or equivalent experience).
Working knowledge of AutoCAD; familiarity with Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks is a plus.
Ability to learn new tools, technologies, and field equipment practices.
Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize design discrepancies.
Capability to work on‑site and commute consistently to the Akron office.
Valid driver's license and ability to pass background screening and drug testing.
Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Ability to work safely in field environments and maneuver through industrial facilities.
