Location: New York, NY. Opportunity to produce high‑quality local news for Spectrum News.
Base Pay Range USD $55,000 – $87,800 per year.
Overview Are you a creative storyteller who loves keeping your community informed? As an In‑Focus Producer at Spectrum News, you'll serve as the heart of the newsroom, leading local news coverage, determining which stories reach the audience, and collaborating with colleagues to craft compelling broadcasts across TV and digital platforms.
What Our Producers Enjoy Most
Developing an in‑depth understanding of local and breaking news
Creating newscasts that attract and hold audiences’ attention
Transforming stories from a simple pitch into a hit that inspires and delights viewers
Collaborating with colleagues to determine what goes on air
Responsibilities Lead local news coverage, identify and prioritize stories, collaborate with reporting and production teams, make decisions about what and when to air, manage content across multiple platforms, ensure accuracy and quality, and maintain a fast‑paced, evolving newsroom environment.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in television news
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience
Knowledge of social media platforms and basic editing skills (Adobe Premiere & Final Cut Pro)
Go‑getter personality and excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
Willingness to travel to uncover local stories and engage with the community
Ability to work various shifts and adapt to schedule changes
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of general office software, newsroom software, and non‑linear editing systems
Ability to lift up to five pounds
Working Conditions
Primarily inside a climate‑controlled environment throughout the year with occasional field duties
Semi‑noisy newsroom setting
