The City of Chandler Police Department, Strategic Initiatives Bureau, is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as the
Radio Communication Senior Specialist . This position is responsible for ensuring that all government radio systems and equipment are operational and meets technical and compliance standards by overseeing contracts, managing equipment installation and maintenance, and working with others. This is a regular full-time, exempt position with benefits, and a 6-month probationary period. The anticipated work schedule for this position may be 4x10 schedule.

The Patrol Operations Division three precincts, 1) Main Station - Downtown & North Chandler, 2) Desert Breeze - West Chandler, and 3) Chandler Heights - South Chandler, work in concert with the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Operational Support Bureau, and Professional Services Division to meet the needs of the community. Who we are looking for Our ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment; and is competently able to do the following when assigned to the Chandler Police Department:
Provide daily customer service support to 1st responders and dispatchers
Investigate and implement mitigation processes for radio system coverage issues, including potential interference areas
Perform ongoing configuration and maintenance of portable and vehicle radios issues, assign radios and associated equipment, maintain database of subscriber equipment
Coordinate with vendors to ensure proper technical specifications on quotes and contracts, manage radio-related software, participate in regional system working groups, provide technical recommendations for purchasing
Provides radio system related statistics to leadershipRepresents the city at various meetings
Serves as a liaison to various internal department and external entities.

Minimum qualifications
Must possess at least an associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours in electronics, electrical engineering technology, computer technology or closely related field; and
Must possess at least 5-years of progressively responsible experience in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electronic and digital communication and radio equipment and systems; and FCC General Class Radiotelephone Certification within 1 year of hire or promotion; and
Shall possess a valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Supervision Work is performed under the supervision of a civilian supervisor or manager. This position does not supervise others.

This is a regular, full-time, exempt position with full benefits. This position is also subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 6 months should another position become available.
