Marketing Coordinator
The Associated Students of CSU, Chico is recruiting for a full‑time, full‑year position. Pay ranges from $22.00-25.00/hr, with placement based on experience. The schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional nights and weekends as needed. Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Marketing & Outreach and the Marketing Manager, this role involves developing and coordinating social media campaigns and digital media content for the Associated Students, its recreation departments, and related initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate marketing student assistants; assist with hiring selections for other department members.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create and oversee a team content calendar; act as project manager to meet all content‑specific deadlines.
- Assist with website maintenance, including page copy, calendar listings, and document publication.
- Manage project information in the project management system and ensure projects meet critical milestones on time.
- Maintain and enforce digital content policies, including the social media policy.
- Moderate all channels for messages, comments, and audience feedback.
- Capture and analyze social data/metrics and report findings biannually to stakeholders.
- Serve as copy editor for all long‑ and short‑form writing; proofread blog posts, captions, and external copy for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and factual correctness.
- Develop compelling stories and content for the campus community via the company blog and other channels.
- Evaluate media for accessibility, including alt text, copy techniques, and closed/open captioning.
- Collaborate with the design team to produce digital assets for social media promotions.
- Meet with clients, suggest marketing concepts, and analyze project requirements and production schedules.
- Represent the Associated Students in interactions with the campus community, the public, and other organizations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, media production, or related field.
- Two years full‑time or part‑time equivalent professional experience in marketing, public relations, or content development.
- One year full‑time or part‑time equivalent supervisory experience.
- Copyediting test required if interviewed.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of marketing, communications, and digital content strategy; social media techniques and analytics.
- Advanced knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok.
- Experience with Content Management Systems (e.g., WordPress, Craft).
- Experience with social media management software such as Iconosquare, Hootsuite, or Buffer.
- Knowledge of digital media production, artistic direction, and training for student assistants.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint on PC and Mac platforms.
- Intermediate level knowledge of graphic design production (preferred).
Special Requirements
- Possession or ability to obtain a current California driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of a background check; a conditional offer may be rescinded if disqualifying information emerges.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is performed in an office environment with continuous contact with staff and the campus community.
Required physical abilities include manual dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, verbal and written communication. Some local travel to vendors and infrequent travel to conferences may be required.
