The Associated Students of CSU, Chico is recruiting for Marketing Coordinator. This is a full‑time, full‑year (2080 hours), non‑exempt position. The pay range for this position is $22.00-25.00/hr; placement in range is dependent upon experience with new hires typically starting at the base of the range. The anticipated schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional nights and weekends. The schedule is subject to change based on department needs.

The Associated Students (AS) is a comprehensive campus auxiliary corporation of CSU, Chico serving thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members through myriad student programs, services and business enterprises. With an annual budget of more than $21M, the AS operates residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union, the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC), and administers the contract for the Wildcat Store (bookstore). Additionally, the AS offers a wide variety of services and programs such as: CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), Child Development Lab, Adventure Outings, Recycling, Sustainability and student government. Typically, the AS employs more than 100 full and part‑time employees and more than 400 students.

MARKETING COORDINATOR
SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, Marketing & Outreach and the Marketing Manager, this position is responsible for the development and coordination of social media campaigns and digital media content for the Associated Students, its recreation departments, and other related work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate marketing student assistants. Assist in hiring selections for other department team members as needed.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create and oversee team content calendar. Act as project manager to satisfy and meet all content‑specific deadlines as outlined on team calendar.
- Assist with website maintenance, including page copy, calendar listings, document publication, etc.
- Assist with team‑wide project management. Enter information into the project management system and ensure that projects meet each critical milestone on time.
- Assist in the maintenance and enforcement of digital content policies, including the social media policy.
- Moderate all channels for messages, comments and other feedback from audiences.
- Capture and analyze the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then implement changes as needed. Report findings biannually to the marketing team and other stakeholders determined by the Assistant Director, Marketing & Outreach.
- Serve as copy editor for all long‑form and short‑form writing, including announcements, social media copy, and blog content. Proofread all blog posts, captions, and other external copy created by marketing students, checking for correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Verify factual correctness of the information, such as dates and statistics, and, if necessary, rewrite text to improve clarity and readability.
- Work with the marketing team to develop and coordinate compelling and interesting stories and content to share with the campus community through the company blog and other communications channels.
- Evaluate all media types for accessibility, including alt text, copy techniques, and closed and open‑captioned media.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the design team to produce digital assets for social media promotions.
- Meet with clients, suggest and help develop marketing concepts, analyze project requirements, and production schedules related to digital content.
- Represent the Associated Students with contacts with the campus community, the public, and other organizations.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of principles of marketing, communications, and digital content strategy, including social media techniques and analytics interpretation
- Advanced knowledge of social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok
- Ability to supervise and evaluate student assistants
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English
- Hands‑on experience/skills with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress, Craft)
- Knowledge of social media management software – such as Iconosquare, Hootsuite, or Buffer – preferred\
- Ability to provide advice and consultation on the planning of social media, content strategy, and media production
- Ability to provide artistic direction and training for student assistants
- Knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and techniques of digital media and production
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the campus community, general public, co‑workers, and those contacted during the course of work
- Ability to work well under pressure meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint on both PC and Mac platforms.
- Knowledge of principles of graphic design production (intermediate level) preferred
MINIMUM EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, media production or related field
- Two (2) years full‑time or part‑time equivalent professional experience in marketing, public relations, or content development role
- One (1) year full‑time or part‑time equivalent supervisory experience
- Copyediting test required if interviewed
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Experience optimizing digital content for accessibility
- Experience using Adobe software – Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Possession of or ability to obtain a current and valid California Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
