The Fountain Group is currently seeking a Social Media Trends Analyst for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in NYC, NY.

  • Job Title: Social Media Trends Analyst (Hybrid – NYC)
  • Pay Rate: $38.21 / hour
  • Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
  • Duration: 23 1/2 month contract (potential to extend/convert based on performance/budget)

About the Role

We’re seeking a trend-driven, culturally connected Social Media Trends Analyst to identify emerging digital conversations, support community management, and deliver actionable social insights. This role is ideal for someone experienced in fast-paced, high-visibility social environments—preferably within notable brands, industries, or large corporations with strong social media footprints.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Social Trendspotting & Insight Development

  • Act as the brand’s social trendspotter and community advocate.
  • Decode social buzz to build reports that inspire strategic content and storytelling.
  • Spark conversations through daily social listening to fuel fresh content ideas.
  • Monitor local platforms to ensure brand consistency across social channels.
  • Stay on top of cutting‑edge social platform updates, features, and tools.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Social Listening

  • Monitor and analyze online conversations, sentiment, mentions, and competitor activity.
  • Identify emerging TikTok and Instagram trends and proactively share findings with internal teams.
  • Track campaign performance and manage brand reputation using actionable insights.
  • Partner cross‑functionally (Marketing, Product, etc.) to provide insights that shape content and product ideation.

2. Community Management

  • Support local markets with community and platform management.
  • Respond to inquiries, ensure consistency of community guidelines, and maintain social network health.
  • Collaborate with Communications teams to develop social FAQs for product launches.
  • Keep global and internal teams informed on new social features, platform updates, and trends.
  • Regularly review local social platforms to ensure branding, tone, and legal requirements are met.

3. Reporting & Data Analysis

  • Execute monthly reporting, analyzing key insights with the Social Media Director.
  • Support social analytics requests across markets and track performance of product and brand campaigns.
  • Use trend analysis tools to inform content creation and assist with social listening requests from cross‑functional teams.

4. Trend Spotting

  • Conduct daily trendspotting on TikTok and Instagram, identifying emerging content opportunities.
  • Create and distribute a weekly trendspotting newsletter to key markets.
  • Stay current on new social platforms, tools, best practices, and industry shifts; confidently present findings to internal teams.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in social media trends, social listening, or community management.
  • Strong knowledge of TikTok & Instagram platforms, culture, and algorithm behavior.
  • Experience working in consumer, lifestyle, beauty, or large corporate environments preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple live projects.
  • Highly trend‑led, culturally aware, and creative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities, able to extract insights from metrics and translate them into opportunities.
  • Preferred experience with: Sprinklr, Traackr, Dash Hudson.
