The Social Media Manager for Troy University serves as the chief architect of the University’s social media strategy, developing and executing a proactive, data‑driven content plan to share the University’s story across current and emerging platforms. This position manages and coordinates posts for all official Troy University social media accounts; creates strategic content calendars in collaboration with Marketing, Enrollment Management, and other University stakeholders; develops performance reports and analytics; and works closely with departmental social media operators to ensure consistent messaging across channels.
The Social Media Manager produces high‑quality photos, videos, and other digital content designed to engage and inspire key audiences—including current and prospective students, alumni, and other stakeholders—while advancing the overall mission and strategic goals of the University. The position also supports crisis communications monitoring and response efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of professional experience managing social media for a business or organization (experience in higher education preferred).
- Proven proficiency in photography, video production, editing, and graphic design for social media content.
- Strong understanding of modern social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Experience with social media management and analytics platforms, and a demonstrated ability to use insights to inform content strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in digital marketing or social media strategy.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or comparable professional photo, video, and graphic design software.
- Experience with Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or similar management platforms, and social listening/analytics tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Meltwater).
- Knowledge of GA4 and social advertising platforms (e.g., Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager).
Driving Requirement
Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility.
