Job Requirements POSITION SUMMARY The Cardiographic Technician is responsible for conducting and interpreting electrocardiogram (EKG) test and supports cardiac diagnostic procedures to ensure accurate assessment of the heart function.

The Cardiographic Technician will maintain clear communication, ensuring timely reporting, while upholding equipment standards, and plays a vital role in facilitating patient-centered cardiac diagnostics, and optimal outcomes to promote wellness of Health First patients.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES

Takes patient medical history, explains the procedure, and positions the patient appropriately for the EKG recording.

Accurately places electrodes on the patient's body to capture the electrical activity of the heart.

Operates the EKG machine to record a clear and accurate tracing of the heart rhythm.

Recognizes common heart rhythm abnormalities like atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and heart blocks on the EKG tracing.

Assists the physician with patient preparation and monitoring during stress tests and stress echocardiograms.

Analyzes the EKG tracing for basic abnormalities and identifies potential cardiac issues.

Prepares a report for the physician detailing the findings of the EKG.

Ensures proper functioning of the EKG machine and maintains cleanliness.

Works closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

Maintains appropriate reading times.

Contacts physicians for reading, including but not limited to STAT, Pending DC, critical findings, and delinquent reads.

Contacts affiliate organizations such as pediatric hospitals/cardiologists for reads.

Work Experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Any one of the following:

Technical Diploma in Medical Assisting

Certified Nursing Assistant Course Certificate.

Work Experience: None

Licensure: None

Certification:

Any one of the following:

Medical Assistant (MA) licensure in the State of Florida.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) licensure in the State of Florida.

Certified Cardiographic Technician within one (1) year of start date and maintained.

American Heat Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.

Basic Dysrhythmia course certification within ninety (90) days of start date.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.

May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.

May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.

May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.

May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.

May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.

Communicating with others to exchange information.

Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.

Workspace may vary from open to confined.

May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
