Education and Experience An Associate's degree or higher in Telecommunications Management, Electrical Engineering or a High Diploma/GED and two (2) years of radio network and equipment experience.

Licenses and Certificates A valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent issued by another state by time of appointment.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, perform installation, programming and maintenance of radio communication equipment and systems used by water and wastewater Instrumentation Control and Field Services departments.

Install, program, repair and maintain all radio communication systems and equipment which includes, but not limited to: mobile and portable radios, vehicle mounted radios, instrumentation control radios, console systems, antennas, repeaters and base stations.

Troubleshoot and test various types of radio communications equipment such as surge arrestors, antennas, cabling and grounding.

Maintain FCC licensing requirements and recommend system improvements.

Perform related duties as required, ensuring continuity of operations, maintaining cleanliness of tools, work areas, assigned vehicle and observing standard operating procedures and safety practices.

Maintain and update files, records, reports and logs.

Respond to user questions and furnish information. Be able to work with flexible hours and weekends upon request.

Respond to emergency calls for service on a call-out basis and work outside normal working hours as needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
