Charges and discharges materials to the public; registers borrowers; retrieves library and overdue materials; uses computers for bibliographic searching; resolves inquiries concerning the borrowing/lending of materials; advises public of materials to meet reading needs.

Qualifications

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of college-level coursework (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours).

Equivalencies: Graduation from high school/equivalent; one (1) year of college-level coursework (must specify 30-semester/45-quarter hours) AND one (1) year of experience working in a library OR graduation from high school/equivalent AND two (2) years of experience working in a library.

Preference for experience in/w with: Working in a library circulation/member services section/bookstore; handling cash; using an automated circulation system (must specify system used on application); providing assistance with self-service technology (must specify on application). Also desirable: Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).

Ability to lift 50 pounds preferred.
