Position Summary The Department of Journalism and Media Production at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for part‑time affiliate faculty teaching positions.
Responsibilities
Teach 3‑9 credit hours. Areas to be taught are courses in writing, video, and interactive media production at the 1000‑level or above. Such courses may include, but are not limited to: Basic Video Production, Introduction to Media Production, Basic Video Editing, Streaming Media Technologies, Critical Thinking Through 21st Century Media, and others.
Be available for consultation with students.
Affiliate faculty duties may include teaching assigned classes in person or online, delivering course content, preparing materials and lesson plans, grading student work, providing robust feedback, addressing student questions, providing academic support, ensuring instruction aligns with course objectives and department coordination policies, and complying with university policies on student evaluation and peer observation. Adaptation to new modes of instruction is encouraged and sensitivity to a diverse student population is required.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Technical Communication or a related field, plus five years of experience in the field.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Media Production, Technical Communication or a related field, and at least five years of professional, full‑time experience in media production.
Terms of Employment Affiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment. Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.
Salary for Announcement The final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy. For more information, please visit the pay rates under the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences: Affiliate‑Rates‑AY‑25‑26.
