Mechanical Design Contractor (6 months contract)
Location: Jacksonville, FL. Remote support primarily.
Pay range:
$60.00/hr - $70.00/hr
We specialize in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting advanced technology systems with AI solutions. The role requires strong CAD proficiency (SolidWorks), sheet metal design, CNC manufacturing, and a blend of hands‑on manufacturability with conceptual freedom. The position is a 6‑month contract.
Responsibilities and Duties
Develop detailed SolidWorks models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings with appropriate tolerances and GD&T.
Design for sheet metal, CNC machining, and welded assemblies.
Work directly from concept sketches, photos, or design briefs, taking creative ownership to achieve functional goals.
Apply DFM/DFA principles to simplify production and reduce fabrication time.
Interface with internal stakeholders or vendors to review manufacturability and implement design improvements.
Create BOMs, exploded views, and documentation packages suitable for shop release.
Participate in weekly design reviews and provide rationale for design decisions.
Support limited prototype or field integration activities as needed.
