Schedule:
Full Time, 40 hours per week, Benefit Eligible M,W‑F 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Tue 11:00 am – 8:00 pm Rotating weekends
Location: North County Regional Library, 16500 Holly Crest Ln, Huntersville, NC 28078
Overview The North County Regional Library, located in Huntersville, NC, serves a dynamic and growing community.
The branch offers a robust collection, state‑of‑the‑art amenities—including a dedicated makerspace—and focuses on digital literacy, community engagement and educational programming.
Library staff collaborate with local partners to meet the diverse needs of residents.
Position Summary This position supports adult workforce and business programming and performs monthly program duties.
The Library Associate works in one or more specific library programs (Adult, Teen, Youth, Reference Services, or Library Systems Administration) to deliver a high‑level of quality library services.
Responsibilities include teaching digital‑literacy classes, technology tutoring, resume workshops, book clubs, and other relevant programs for teens, emerging adults, adults, and seniors.
The Associate also represents the library in the community, facilitating outreach and fostering partnerships with local organizations.
Essential Functions
Support and implement adult workforce, business, and digital literacy programming initiatives
Develop and deliver programming for adults ages 18 and up
Prepare monthly program reports and statistics
Build and maintain relationships with outreach sites and community partnerships
Provide research assistance to customers
Utilize integrated library systems software
Provide service desk coverage as needed
Maintain the library’s collection of materials, including repairs, shelving, and marketing
Promote and market library programs; collaborate with Marketing and Communications to generate flyers and program materials
Create and maintain attractive and appropriate bulletin boards and displays
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of two years of library, retail, computer, or customer service experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Combination of relevant education and experience accepted (Yes)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience conducting programs or teaching adult classes
Experience supporting workforce, business, or digital literacy classes
Programming and outreach experience is highly desirable, along with a demonstrated passion for and comfort in conducting outreach to vulnerable populations and building and sustaining positive relationships with patrons and external partners
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:
Alpha‑numeric sorting systems
Various library systems
Telephone etiquette
Skills:
Technology adeptness
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent time‑management skills with attention to detail
