APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

The Marketing Area in the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly is creating a pool of eligible part-time lecturers to teach introductory principles of marketing, international marketing, market research, new product development and launch, product management, sales, sales technology, or other more advanced courses during the Summer, Fall, Winter, and/or Spring Quarters of the 2025-2026 academic year. Assignments will be contingent upon budget and enrollments.

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677

Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224

Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523

Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,211

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in business or related discipline and professional marketing experience required.

Must demonstrate a strong teaching record and currency in the professional field.

Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population fostering a respectful, collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.

Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in withdrawal of the offer.

Cal Poly will not sponsor an H-1B visa for this position.

Current employees offered on-campus positions will be required to undergo a background check where required by law or designated as sensitive.

The Marketing Area offers coursework in Marketing to prepare students for careers in corporate environments.
