Classification: Exempt/Full Time

Reports to: Chief Marketing and Development Officer

Position Summary The Media Relations and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies that increase the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona (GSSOAZ) brand awareness; promote products, events, programs, and services; and nurture relationships using communication platforms and digital technologies.

Responsibilities

Manage the Council communications plan and oversee strategy to promote events, programs, and activities; support fund development endeavors; and recruit and retain members

Write content for print, email, social media, and web, ensuring council communications are approachable, compelling, and informative to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders

Write, design and deploy email campaigns and newsletters, and track email metrics

Collaborate with all departments in identifying and disseminating information for distribution

Maintain an up-to-date communications calendar

Write press releases, arrange media engagement opportunities, and track and share media hits and clips

In partnership with CDO, establish and maintain relationships with community agencies, networks, media, and partners

Support social media communications strategy and execution on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn

Coordinate brand consistency and create and maintain a unified organizational voice

Keep council staff informed of marketing and communications goals and plans driven by Girl Scouts USA

Enter data into Council customer relationship management tool and adhere to Council procedures and policies regarding documenting membership interactions, maintaining confidentiality and completing tasks

Promote and assist with Council wide programs, activities, and fund development endeavors

Attend trainings and meetings as required, some of which may be off-site

Responsible for learning and staying abreast of current information regarding Girl Scouts, GSSOAZ and our products and offerings

Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy and professionalism to coworkers, the volunteers served by the Council, and others with whom their job put them in contact

Prepare and submit yearly, quarterly, monthly and weekly electronic reports

Maintain files in an organized and up-to-date manner; adhere to Council document storage guidelines

Perform job duties in accordance with the Safety and Risk Management Plan

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required

2-4 years of experience in email marketing, public relations, social media communications, digital advertising, and/or online fundraising OR

Equivalent combinations of Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, and/or online product marketing experience

Excellent facilitation and presentation skills, including ability to collaborate with girl-led initiatives and marketing campaigns

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to cultivate, motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers of diverse social and economic backgrounds

Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills

Experience in HTML and CSS; familiarity with content management systems

Previous Girl Scout experience welcomed; not required

Belief in the mission of Girl Scouts and ability to articulate to others through writing in many forms, as well as traditional marketing and digital media communications

Ability to work with people of diverse racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds and promote an inclusive environment

Flexible and able to problem solve and self-direct

Capable of working under pressure and handling multiple demands/heavy volume

Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends

Possess the character, skills, and ability to be a positive role model for girls and adults.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. occasionally, stand and sit, bend and reach, throughout the shift

Ability to utilize a personal computer, point-of-sale system, 10-key calculator and office phone system in an efficient and knowledgeable manner

Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable

Ability to successfully pass a Background Check and/or obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Card

Daily access to automobile in working condition or adequate alternative transportation. Proof of meeting Arizona State requirements regarding auto licensing, driver's license, and liability insurance, if applicable
